Nicolas SDEZ
Sailor, Engineer-turned-Entrepreneur, MBA, Co-Founder at PRONOE
Nicolas SDEZ is an engineer
and first degree and INSEAD MBA by second. He comes from Lille, France and
studied in Paris (ENSTA) and Milan (Politecnico) for his Master’s degree in Maritime
Engineering. An avid sailor, Nicolas worked first on the decarbonation of the
shipping industry where he developed a wind propulsion technology from scratch up
to large-scale industrial projects, co-founding a company (Oceanwings) in the
process. His obsession with holistically addressing problems through technology
and usages, including crew behaviors and weather routing considerations, contributed
significantly to its success.
With the belief that climate action requires not only “less bad”, but also
“more good”. Nicolas now pursues ecosystem restoration and carbon removal, beyond
CO2 emission mitigation, having co-founded PRONOE. PRONOE is an
internationally-awarded climatetech startup that restores the ocean’s natural
capacity to permanently remove CO2 from the air, by locally mitigating the
acidification of surface waters.
