Gunjan Menon is a wildlife filmmaker, National Geographic Storytelling Explorer & conservation communicator, currently based in Canada. Her work focuses on human-wildlife coexistence and mitigating conflict, featuring some of the most endangered species on earth. Over the last decade, she has been recognized with over 50 awards & nominations across 15 countries. Her work has been broadcast on Nat Geo Wild, Disney+ Hotstar, BBC Earth, Animal Planet, and other local Indian platforms. Two of her shorts have been selected for Jackson Wild’s World Wildlife Day Film Showcase and her critically acclaimed short film ‘The Firefox Guardian (2018), also shortlisted for a student BAFTA, tells the story of a local guardian in Nepal and her love for red pandas. The film still travels to renowned film festivals and schools, starting a dialogue on ecofeminism and raising funds for red panda conservation worldwide. Gunjan Menon is also a storytelling mentor to emerging filmmakers, women & scientists, leading workshops on conservation filmmaking and science storytelling. In 2020 she co-founded ‘Beyond Premieres’, which focuses on impact-driven films and helps emerging filmmakers harness the power of storytelling.
